About EAS

EAS is an acronym standing for Emergency Alert System. The Mitchell Residence Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a system in place to alert household residents during an emergency.

EAS messages and tones are broadcast through Alexa-enabled Echo devices as well as through mobile phone notifications.

Preceding a voice announcement from the EAS, you will hear a five second steady tone. This tone alerts you that an important announcement from the EAS is to follow.

In the event of an emergency that requires physical evacuation, you will hear a continuous emergency alert siren combined with periodic announcements informing you to evacuate. Upon activation, follow the evacuation plan to quickly but calmly exit, placing a safe distance between you and the premises.
